Bobcat's Offence Explodes in Lopsided Win Over Canucks
Posted December 2nd, 2018 @ 12:02 am

An offensive outburst on all fronts, helped the Lloydminster Bobcats put an end to a three game losing skid Saturday night at the Civic Centre.

The Cats used seven goals from seven different goal scorers as they rolled past the visiting Calgary Canucks 7-1.

Hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss night, it did not take long for the stuffed animals to come flying onto the ice. Just under three minutes into the contest rookie forward Ethan Mack cut into the slot a snapped a shot past Canuck’s goalie Brett Balas.

After the stuffed animals rained down and got cleaned up, the Canucks had a quick response. A Bobcat’s breakdown in the neutral zone led to a Calgary breakaway and Brandon Brazeau made no mistake beating Curtis Meger blocker side.

However, from that point on, it was all Bobcats.

Peppering the Canucks with 25 shots in the first frame, Lloydminster broke the deadlock late in the opening frame. Rylan Nivon jumped on a loose rebound and beat Balas with 1:06 left in the frame. Then just seven seconds later Reid Irwin have a point-shot bounce through Balas to give the Cats a 3-1 lead after one.

Just past the midway point of the second period the Bobcats added to their lead.

Mason Waite sprung Logan Bromhead on a breakaway, and the Coquitlam, BC native made no mistake lifting a back-hander over Balas.

With only eleven seconds remaining in the second period Ty Mosimann scored his second career goal to make it 5-1.

The goals didn't stop there for the home side.

After scoring his first career Bobcat’s goal Wednesday night in Bonnyville, Noah Taron scored his second in as many games when he extended the lead to 6-1.

With a perfect night well in the works for Lloydminster, it got even a little bit better with just under eight minutes to play.

Unable to find the back of the net on some good chances throughout the contest, Jordan Borysiuk scored his first career Bobcat’s goal in his first career Bobcat’s game.

Thirteen of the Bobcat’s eighteen skaters had at least one point in the game.

Curtis Meger turned aside 16 of 17 shots for Lloydminster in the win, while Brett Balas allowed seven goals on 48 shots.

With the man-advantage the Bobcats finished 3 for 6. The Canucks, meanwhile, went 0 for 5.

It will be a very quick turn around for the Lloydminster Bobcats as they get set to welcome the Drumheller Dragons to the Civic Centre on Sunday. Puck drop is at 2:30.
