Heading In: Cats Look to Build Off Victory Over ‘Stangs
After winning four straight games, the Bobcats quickly found themselves in a three-game losing streak right after. However, the Cats put an end to that skid Saturday night with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Mustangs. Helped out by a couple of their deadline acqusitions, as Lloydminster got a goal and an assist from Jacob Tibbatts in his debut, and a goal from Shawn Harke in his season debut, the Bobcats will hope their new forward depth can help turn things around away from home. That depth is expected to compliment the likes of Kobe Walker (21-22-43) and Zach Kaiser (18-18-36) quite nicely, who continued to do their thing on Saturday, as well. Kaiser had two goals and an assist, while Walker had a pair of helpers.
Head to Head
In their three meetings so far this season, it has been the home team coming away with the victory in each one. At the end of December, the Bobcats beat the Wolverines 2-1 and 3-2 at the Civic Centre, however, in their only meeting inside the Scott Safety Centre, Whitecourt emerged victorious, 3-0. Individually, Estian Coatzee has two goals and one assist against the Bobcats, while three different Cats have a pair of points against Whitecourt.
Shine Bright Like a Diamond
For Bobcat’s goalie Pierce Diamond, it will be his second time returning to the rink he called home last season. Diamond played his first game back in the SSC last Tuesday and turned in one of his best performances of the season, despite it resulting in a loss. The Edmonton product stopped 46 of the 48 shots he faced in a 3-0 defeat. Lately, Diamond has been turning in solid performance after solid performance. In his last nine appearances, Diamond has posted a 2.25GAA and a .933SV%.
